As part of a group project at University, we were tasked to develop and present innovative approaches that address a chosen social, environmental or economic challenge. We decided to tackle Australia’s increasing food waste problem.

Taking on the role as group team leader and designer, my main responsibilities consisted of defining the problem of food waste in Australia and its impacts, running regular meetings, helping others, keeping everyone motivated, and designing the final poster.

The challenge? The poster had to include an astonishing 1,000 words. How do you do this without overwhelming the audience or making it look clustered?

I thought of a few alternatives including both physical and digital designs. Some ideas included a foldable poster, a large blank canvas to pin section by section, and an animated zoom in & out presentation. Considering time, ease of use and flexibility for the whole team, I decided to do the latter.
